The Story Behind the Sweary Collection

Every collection has a story... and this one started in the most unexpected way.

During COVID, I spent hours sewing masks. Like many of us, I was shopping online more than ever when a friend sent me a photo of someone wearing a mask with some very colourful language on it.

I had to know where that fabric came from.

That search introduced me to Spoonflower, a marketplace where independent artists from around the world turn their designs into wallpaper, stationery & FABRIC!! I was instantly hooked. Suddenly there was an endless world of unique prints that I had never seen before.

Of course, the first fabrics I ordered reflected the times—cheeky COVID-themed prints with sayings like "6 Feet Back" and "Stay Back." They brought a little humour to a difficult season, and people loved them.

As life returned to normal (kinda), and my business evolved - my focus shifted from masks to bags.

Then one customer asked if I could use a sweary print as the lining inside her custom bag.

My answer was simple: "Absolutely."

That one request sparked an idea. Why hide these fun fabrics on the inside? Why not celebrate them?

And just like that, the Sweary Collection was born.

These bags aren't for everyone - and that's exactly the point. They're for people who appreciate a little sarcasm, a good laugh, and a bag with personality. Whether you carry one proudly or enjoy the surprise of a cheeky lining, each one is handmade in Canada with the same care and attention that goes into everything I create.
